Turn spreadsheet rows into personalized Photoshop outputs
Variable-data production is different from applying every design to every template. Each row has intent. It might represent one customer name, one language version, one SKU, or one coordinated front-and-back artwork set.
The CSV defines that intent while the PSD defines the visual system. Photoshop still renders typography, masks, effects, lighting, and smartobject transformations.
Map text and image columns to PSD layers
Use stable layer names in the PSD and matching headers in the CSV. Text columns fill compatible text layers. Image columns select files for compatible smartobjects. The template column chooses which PSD should render the row.
Create catalogs, multilingual variants, and personalized products
Catalog teams can combine SKU, product name, color, and artwork fields. Personalized-product sellers can combine customer names with selected designs. Agencies can render localized campaigns by changing text and image columns for each language or market.
Validate variable data before production
Test template mappings and a small row sample first. Check long text, missing images, unsupported characters, and aspect-ratio differences. A valid spreadsheet cannot prevent a visual overflow if the PSD was not designed for the supplied content.
